Many times we do not understand why He leads us where He does.
“Now when Pharaoh had let the people go, God did not lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, even though it was near;…”
“…for God said, ‘The people might change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.
Hence God led the people around by the way of the wilderness to the Red Sea…” Exodus 13:17,18
Pause and contemplate the depth of that statement about God’s leadership.
Because He knows the quickest route, that is the way we always expect and want Him to direct us, right? And how do we feel when we realize that we are not on the most direct path and are on a route that we don’t understand? Oh, the struggle!
May we be reminded today that He knows what’s ahead on the route that we think is best or most logical.
He knows our fears, temperaments, and temptations better than we do ourselves and knows that when our newfound freedom gets ‘hard’ we may want to go back. He cares too much about our forward progress to allow us to return to our old places of bondage.
And He ALSO knows the miracles He has ahead of us down the impossible looking path ahead.
Knowing the struggle and temptation they would have on the shortest route HE took them up against the Red Sea, a great obstacle before them, with Pharaoh’s army behind them.
There, after following God’s leading, they frighteningly found their lives in danger with seemingly no hope of escape.
Today where are we (you personally, our nation, our world) backed up against ‘the Red Sea’ with seemingly no solution to the crisis?
