Why Are People Falling for Ungodly Wisdom?

Ungodly and wisdom: two words that cannot go together.

Yet we see people all around us professing to be wise (Romans 1:20,21, 22) as they live contrary to the Only True Word of Wisdom (John 1:1-18).

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
And clever in their own sight!” Isaiah 5:20,21

Now here is truth:

“The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8

We are to obey the Lord’s leading and His clearly set directions for us in His Word, rather than bowing to any person’s ‘wisdom’ of how they ‘think’ it may work better.

We can expect the servants of the enemy, disguised as servants of righteousness (2 Cor. 11:15), to come with their “persuasive argument” (Col. 2:4) and to “creep in unnoticed”(Jude 1:3,4) because we are clearly warned of this in scripture.*

We can expect this and thus should be prepared.

So why is it that so many are losing their footing and getting plowed over by the ‘persuasiveness’ of their ‘arguments’?

This should not be.

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for us so that we may be equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16,17).

Therefore anything and everything that does not line up with the inerrant Word of God, no matter how persuasive the argument, needs to be discarded.

So how will we know?

The only way we will know the counterfeit when we see and hear it is to be thoroughly acquainted with the real thing.

We must be in the word of God daily, having it always before us and knowing it like the back of our hands.

And we must

“..contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints..” (Jude 1:3).
