What do you want? If you have not already taken part in the last assignment, I would direct you back to that first, click here.
“What do you want?”
It has again been a question that God has been asking my heart at the most unexpected times. (click here to see a response post from the last time I kept hearing this question)
And it causes me pause. It causes me to seek to find out my REAL desires.
As I hear Him ask, it seems that it is a prioritizing question for us all.
And it leads us to two parallel truths:
1) We need to prioritize prayer and ask Him for ALL our ‘wants’, desires, and needs, allowing Him to purify and to accomplish those desires according to His will.
The answer to this question, “What do you want?” is simply what prayer is.
Concerning all of the wants and needs that surfaced as we sought the Lord for the answer to this question, are we praying for them?
The Word says (James 4:2),
“You do not have because you do not ask.”
Being clear within ourselves about what we really want and what our all-knowing Heavenly Father (Who knows what is best for us and all those we are praying for) desires for us to ‘want’,
simply ASK.
Prioritize prayer.
ASK. And keep asking. “Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly]..” 2 Thess. 5:17 AMP
May we give those requests more diligent thought. What do we really want? And if we really want it, we will continue to pray and lay it before the Lord. We will not be so easily pleased with less than.
And not only do we need to pray about everything (Phil. 4:6,7),
2) We need to prioritize His wants.
There is something about hearing Him, the One Who is able to answer that very request, that makes me truly ponder and examine the deep desires of my heart and if they line up with His desires. And it helps me refocus.
We need to know and have as our priority what He desires for us to want.
Let us not be so sidetracked by our own desires that we spend our time running after the wrong things.
Have you been misled by ‘lesser things’?
Have you talked to Him about what He desires for you to truly want?
PLEASE do so. And prioritize those things. We need you!
We need you seeking God and His Presence, praying, standing firm in the faith and in truth, and knowing your purpose.
“fulfill your ministry.” 2 Tim. 4:5
“This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.” 1 John 5:14,15
