When the answer to our prayer comes, how often do we neglect obeying our part in the miracle, only to then miss out on the very thing we have been praying and longing for?
Ten leprous men stood at a distance and “raised their voices, saying ‘Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!’ When He saw them, He said to them, ‘Go and show yourselves to the priests,’ And as they were going, they were cleansed.” Luke 17:12-14
We don’t have to completely understand the why of the instructions of the Lord before we obey them. His directions may be as incomprehensible as “go wash in the pool of Siloam” after we’ve already allowed ‘spit’ in our eyes (John 9:6,7). Was that not risky enough? Now there’s more? (See Part 1 here if you missed it)
Oh, to fully trust the Instruction Giver and act in blind faith.
We all want to minister to people, to touch lives for Christ, to fulfill our purpose, and He gives us the assignment, the words, the faith, and promises to be with us.
He has done His part and now we have to act:
Will we be bold and speak that encouragement?
Will we risk the awkwardness and pray for that person?
Will we write the encouraging or the hard words and share them?
Will you __________? (Fill in your own experience, a right now opportunity that you have.)
Will you do what He has asked you to do? Or will you continue waiting and longing for your eyes to be open for ‘vision’ and ‘sight’ before you will obey?
Do what He has instructed you to do.
Do the last thing that you heard that you have not acted on. If you don’t remember, ask Him.
And take courage and faith
and BLINDLY do the thing
and SEE with clearer vision the next step of obedience.
May we trust Him more. There are consequences to obedience.
He has purpose behind everything He asks of us.
Yes, even as ‘He applies clay to our eyes and asks us to go wash’.
Let’s resolve to JUST BLINDLY OBEY,
that the works of God would be displayed in us to the glory of His Name (John 9:3).
